What university did you attend for graduate school and what year did you graduate?
I earned my doctorate in audiology from the University of South Florida, 2007
Where do you currently work and what are your specialties?
I am employed by Alvarez Audiology & Hearing; aural rehabilitation, including hearing instruments and assistive listening aids; diagnostic audiology; tinnitus diagnosis and treatment.
Why did you become an audiologist?
I love spending time and communicating with my patients and their families. As an audiologist, I have the privilege of developing long-lasting relationships with my patients and really getting to know them. I get to share in the pleasure of seeing their own relationships improve and their lives change because of the work I do with them to help them hear better, communicate effectively, relieve their tinnitus symptoms and improve the quality of their lives. I also get to use cutting-edge technology and continue learning everyday as the fields of science, technology, and medicine evolve and bring amazing tools and knowledge to my patients. Because I am also in private-practice, I have the freedom to create the best environment and bring together the best team possible for my patients to achieve the best outcomes. Everyday I feel blessed that I chose audiology as my life’s work!
What is your favorite part of Audiology?
Getting to meet my patients and their families and see the changes in their lives as we work together to identify their difficulties, find a solution, and begin the process of better hearing.
Why did you join FLAA?
I joined FLAA because I wanted to be part of like-minded group individuals who valued quality patient care.
